Cellars 
 
Open cellars, where you can taste the wines of Palkonya’s family winaries are open during the European Cultural Village program series, on the Saturday of the festival from 2 p.m. You can buy a „Cultural Village tasting glass” at the information desk located at the row of cellars. The price of the glass is HUF 1,500.
Every year a board of experts examines the wines to be tasted. Below you can find the descriptions of the tasting wines for each winery. An overall opinion about the wines: "All the wines presented meet the requirements to be presented at the programs. We have experienced a sturdy development as regards wine quality and know-how."

The family has been dealing with wine-growing since 1975. His patrilineal grandmother started the activity, and as a tradition, women also take part in wine-growing and cellar-related tasks. They own ¼ hectares in Villány. Since 2000, Krisztián alone makes the wines with the help of his mother. He primarily makes Portugieser. His Portugeiser of 2004 won silver medal. Currently his cellar is under reconstruction, he is about to build a larger cellar in order to suit the increasing needs.

Suta has been dealing with wine-growing for two years, his 0.6 hectare farm is located at the end of Hosszúhegy. On this year’s wine competition, his Portugieser of 2006 won gold medal, and his rosé and red cuvée silver medals. Suta’s goal is to make wines of continuously good quality and unique taste. He intends to open a tasting cellar in the future, which would enable the reception of bigger groups of people.
 
 
 
 
 
Királykadarka/06: characteristic scent and bouqet, good acid content
Zweigelt rosé/06: beautiful color, fresh scent and bouqet. Altogether a nice rosé.

He and his father-in-law planted their winery in 1978, on the top of the Lajos hill. Currently the whole family together works on a territory of cca. 1600 m2. They produce white wine from Müller-Thurgau and Zenit, and red wine from Oporto. Feri is the village trustee of Palkonya.

Csaba has been dealing with wine-growing for twenty years, he works together with his family on the wineyard. He owns 2800 m2 of territory, mainly planted with Portugieser. Csaba works at a winery. His wines has been sold not only in Villány, but also in Eger and Budafok.

Currently he works on a 0.7 hectare territory, and he owns a 0.7 hectare, two-year-old plantation. He primarily makes red wine, his Kékfrankos wine of 2004 and his Szőlőskert Cuvée won gold medals this year. Balázs started his wine-growing activities in 2004. He has been received great support from the oenologists of Palkonya, and he also advisedly attended winery schools (Pannon Wine University, Wine Academy of Villány, Licensed Wine-Taster). He will open his tasting house this year. He and his wife operate a quest house on the monumental row of cellars.

The Haraszti cellar is a family cellar of Palkonya, where the affection towards winery goes back to four generations. Currently they work on 4 hectares of territory, where all the species specific to the wine region of Vilány are present. Besides Portugieser, which is the number one grape of the region, you can also find Kékfrankos, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon. They are continously working with their body and soul in order that the outcome of their labours serve the health of the guests!

The Rőder family has been dealing with wine-growing and wine-making for generations, on the  Hosszúhegy in Palkonya. The father and his sons cultivate 2 hectares of wine territory. They have grapery in more than one wineyards of the hill. They are most proud of their Portugieser and Olaszrizling. The younger Ede currently is an oenologist at the Günzer winery in Villány.

He has been having an own grapery since 1999, but he had also been dealing with grape-growing before. He makes wine primarily from Portugieser. He has created more than one price-winning wines. He sells some of his wines to oenologists of Villány. He collects and displays ancient peasant tools in his cellar.
